What Is IP Rotation? When It Helps (and Hurts) Instagram Accounts
IP rotation is the practice of changing the IP address your account connects through over time. Done right, it mimics natural mobile user behavior; done wrong, it triggers Instagram's 'suspicious login' system and kills accounts.

Instagram tracks login IPs and associates each account with a small set of 'trusted' IPs over time. Rotating too aggressively (new IP every session) looks like account hijacking — Instagram responds with forced password resets and logouts. Never rotating leaves you stuck if an IP gets flagged. The sweet spot: sticky session proxies that keep the same IP for 1-7 days then rotate to a nearby IP. Mobile proxies naturally rotate as cell towers hand off, which Instagram tolerates because it's normal for real users.
How to handle it
Use sticky session residential proxies for stable accounts (same IP for 7+ days, occasional rotation to a nearby geographic IP). Use mobile proxies where natural rotation is beneficial. Never share proxies across accounts — each account should have its own assigned IP or rotation pool.
